LEGO scale modeling in the form of a 1/18 Messerschmitt Bf 109

Advanced creator and LEGO MOCer Lennart C. did what he does best: an excellent LEGO scale model of the famed Messerschmitt Bf 109 from the WWII Luftwaffe.

"This time I wanted to build an older fighter then the others I have done, The Messerschmitt BF-109 is in my opinion one of the most awesome looking airplanes of World War 2. I wanted to build a often seen 'battle of Britain' with yellow front, so I chose The BF-109E flown by the famous Ace Adolf Galland."

This plane was the backbone of the Luftwaffe's fighter force. The Bf 109 first saw operational service in 1937 during the Spanish Civil War and was still in service at the dawn of the jet age at the end of World War II in 1945. It was one of the most advanced fighters of the era, including such features as all-metal monocoque construction, a closed canopy, and retractable landing gear. It was powered by a liquid-cooled, inverted-V12 aero engine.

"There is no stickers on it, so all the markings are not the same as the real one, but this time I preferred genuine printed bricks or brick built markings instead of stickers and i think it turned out quite well."

"The landing gear retracts."

"The oblique angel the landing gear is placed was quite a challenge for me to build."

"The oblique angel the landing gear is placed combined with the way the wings are going upwards was a nightmare to figure out to do properly."

"It took me many rebuilds before it ended like this, and MY GOD it felt good when i finally was done with the whole wing section."
