LEGO FA-78 Full Armor Gundam

I want to believe that someday LEGO will produce official Mech sets (not Bionicle please), but something more in the vain of Gundam. Why do i want to believe it? Because there's more and more creators that i discover day by day making some great models (MOCs) that, despite of being extremely detailed and complex, demonstrate that it is quite possible to achieve high quality resemblance with the originals.

That's the case of MOCer lysanderchau, who built this awesome FA-78 Full Armor Gundam

He gives no details on his Flickr account about this Mech, but we are going to elaborate just a bit about it, based on what is known thanks to the Gundam Anime Universe.

The FA-78 Full Armor Gundam is a prototype mobile suit from the Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt series that is piloted by Io Fleming.

This guy over here is Io Fleming.

Heavily armed and armored, the FA-78 Full Armor Gundam (Thunderbolt sector use) combines heavy firepower and durability with high maneuverability from the added backpack. Many additional equipment are added to enhance its combat performance, including external propellant tanks and missile pods. Other equipment includes four shields and rubber joint cover to protect the suit body from asteroid debris, its main weapon include a twin barrel beam rifle, a beam cannon, cluster missile launcher located in the backpack, a handheld missile pod, and missile launchers around part of the body.

It was first introduced in the Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt manga circa 2012 and appeare later in TV in the OVA (ONA) Gundam: TB.

It is a very popular choice among Gunpla builders because it looks so damn cool in the shelves!
